Your Business… Your Rules. I had a conversation last week with a coach who has been at this game for a couple of years. He has immersed himself in training - not skills training but marketing training. He's spent thousands of dollars to become an internet marketer in the name of building his coaching business. When we spoke he kept going in circles, explaining to me how this was helping his SEO and this other thing was helping build his list and this piece was getting him fans.
So I asked him if he enjoyed the marketing more than he enjoyed coaching. I asked him if all this busy work was getting him clients. I asked him what he'd be willing to NOT do any more so that he could do the real work - the work that is about transformation not broadcasting.
He said he wanted to be coaching and not marketing, but he was so committed to his path the way he built it that he was blinded to the ways it wasn't working. All he knew is that he wasn't getting clients and if he just tweaked the verbiage on his site a little more, it'd all click. He was told that this was the way. He was told that this stuff works.
All I saw was him SURRENDERING HIS POWER TO OTHER PEOPLE'S FORMULAS.
I didn't offer him a coaching spot. He isn't ready to be a badass, to write his own rules and actually do the things necessary for him to get clients. He wasn't ready to see other possibilities. He's too enthralled with magic potions and secret systems for success.
I am looking for people who are ready to write their own rules and create their own path, people who are willing to go off trail to find the better vistas. Who are willing to dig a little deeper and find the simple answers inside of themselves…
