These are people and organizations that inspire the hell out of me. They are leaders of movements, authors of books, heads of state, captains of sustainable industry, etc. This is not a list of people who have written self development or spiritual books but people who are ACTIVISTS, ADVOCATES, WORLD LEADERS and GLOBAL / NATIONAL ORGANIZATIONS FIGHTING FOR CHANGE.
Why? Well because I LOVE following people who inspire me to do better in the world. And learning is paramount to being great at advocacy. I was inspired by a list of Top 100 in Gender Equality (here) and was drilling down into each person myself - when suddenly I realized that other people may love this too. Of course, that little thought ended up being a larger undertaking but I think it's worth it - don't you?
I remember seeing Linda Sarsour speak and she said something to the effect of "if you're not sitting at the table with the people most impacted by the issues you're trying to solve, you're at the wrong table." I'm very conscious of a few things as I build the list. It is important to me that this be as intersectional and inclusive as I can possibly make it. If you don't learn from those in the trenches, you're missing the opportunity to gain perspective for change so that's where I will concentrate. AND there are some women and men who I just would be remiss to exclude.
I tried to include as many links for them as I could so you can not only read up on them but also follow them on IG, Twitter & FB where applicable.
Some are adept at being online. Some are not. Okay, most of them are not... there are some fugly sites out there representing these amazing people. If you're into site design you may want to reach out to a few. Please.
ALSO - some amazing people run the organizations listed. If they do NOT have a personal account, I have posted the links to their organization. If they do have personal accounts, I have often times put a separate listing for their organization but I'm trying not to be redundant as much as possible. So really, no rhyme or reason but if you'd like both listed let me know.
This list is not exhaustive and in no way represents EVERYONE. We are constantly adding to it so please email me if you'd like to have someone included here (with links... help make it easy) or if a link needs fixing. I won't guarantee that I will add them to the list but I will certainly take your recommendation to heart. Bookmark this page and come back often. We will experiment with ways to differentiate the upload dates to make it easy on you too.
